Background
The aim of this project is to build Korean-Indonesian Electronic Dictionary. There are some dictionaries running under platform of stardict, golden dict, or other software. Here, we use Lexique Pro, a tool developed by Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) which is freely downloadable. You can get it
here.
Entry based search is quiet common for most electronic dictionary. However, Lexique Pro offers stronger search features such as: Part of Speech (POS), semantic domain, synonyms, reversal (Indonesian-Korean) etc. Besides common linguistic information, such as : gloss, POS, example, definition, synonyms and some other fields are also added into the entries (Grammatical notes, sociolinguistic nodes, semantic domain and etc). It can also have pictures, sounds or videos and link to internet. This will enhance the content of linguistic information in the entries, and users will find it very useful.
Lexique Pro is also compatible to database from toolbox or shoebox (other dictionary building software from SIL). So, if you have a project run with shoe/toolbox, it is possible to run it with Lexique Pro as well. Other feature that I like is that you can print it as a paper dictionary. You can also distribute the lexicon to others, upload it to the internet (as web pages or get the XML code). In this way, many people will be able to use the dictionary.
So far, I am the only contributor for this dictionary. Please let me know if you have interest on this. You can also contribute by evaluating the dictionary, either the Korean, or Indonesian part, or both^^. I know this is laborous work and takes time. But when a lot of hands are helping each other, things can speed up. Your contribution can benefit many people.
